Best Survival Weapon

Just wondered what everybody else would want if they had to pick a single gun to use to survive out in the wilderness for an extended period of time. At least give the caliber, hopefully the model/style too.

Personally, I'd probably take a .30-06. My father has one made by Seiko for Colt that is absolutely awesome, but the lack of a quick follow-up would hurt. I'd probably try to find one in a lever action, hopefully by Winchester. If I couldn't find a lever gun in .30-06, I'd probably just knock it down to a decent .30-30.

Caliber wise I'm with you. The .30-06 is a great all around caliber. Not sure on the model, but possibly the M1. You have 8 shots as fast as you can squeeze the trigger and the ammo can be stored in clips.

For rifle I am currently not entirely sure which model I would pick, although I would chose either .30-30 or .30-06. But, in terms of handguns, I know easily that I would chose a Glock 22 handgun. As any gun enthusiast knows, Glock weapons are some of the toughest available and the .40 round that it is chambered in provides ample power. I would equip it with padded grip pieces and fiddle a little with the barrel to increase accuracy and range.
